Who Is Jack from  Bangkok Pro Guitar Repair?

I am a person who has always enjoyed music and other forms of art. Another part of me has always had a mind of an engineer, so I have always been curious about how all things work. This type of personality has alway held me close to engineering and music in some form, regardless of the work I was doing at the time. My path has led me from the USA to Thailand.

Eventually, this led me to opening a chain of successful music shops in the USA when I was in my mid 20s. As I became popular with local musicans, other doors opened for me. I was offered a radio spot to talk about music in general and from that, I was offered a weekly column in the local newspaper. I was asked to write about music history and theory. As you could imagine, I was always quite busy selling struments, repairing them, and educating people about them.  I always felt the happiest  being surround by anything related to music and I feel at home in this type of surrounding.

I did run and manage other companies over the years, but these were often related to some aspect of engineering, architecture or Interior design.  As stated; I was comfortable in this scenario as well.  I still maintain my architectural and interior design company these days. However,  my partner and team do more of the hard work these days and I appreciate them for that.  I usually meet with the clientele and check in on the project to make notes. Now, I am in my repair, customization, and restoration shop 92% of the week, rathre than 40 or 50%.

Regardless my journey through life, I was always repairing instruments, doing special customizations on guitars, or doing full restorations on hign end collectable brand name guitars for serious collectors.  As you can imagine, my home or homes have always had a shop in them for doing such work!

Now ,after I've endered my 60s realm , I have made my way back to doing this more than ever before! Currently,  its almost 7 days a week , all year long! One instrument after the other, and I love it with all my heart!

I've been at this nearly 40 years now, and have done work for a handful of  well-know people in the music industry, both in Thailand and abroad. I can work on almost any guitar you can think of, and  most likely have at some point in my life.  This is why I am very comfortable with any project that comes into my shop, It doesn't matter how expensive or collectable it may be.

The way I see it, I am a doctor! Only my patients are sick instruments! 555 (LOL)

Basic Guitar Adjustments

Sometimes you only need the very basics. Maybe one or two things to make your instrument sound like its "old self" once again! Of course, I can adjust  intonations, string height, nut slot depth, change your strings, clean your guitar and make it do just about anything you can dream of. I always make sure any guitar leaving my shop is in the best shape allowed by all of its inherent parts!

What to Expect?

My Business Philosophy

Firstly, expect to make a new trustworthy friend in me! One you feel confident leaving your instruments with.  Regardless of the issues you may have with your musical instruments, electronics, pedals, basses, string instruments, etc. Jack (me) has nearly 40 years expereince with highly advanced repairs, and complete restorations; as well as unigue customizations.

Secondly, and most important ... is that there are always a solution available! That's right! Regardless of your circumstances, I can usually find a solution that works for you! As an example,  customers can have repairs that exceed the price of the instrument. This can often create a lot of stress on the owner. Likewise, perhaps the repair is worth it, but your bank savings at the moment will not allow you to repair it. If this is the case, talk to me first! Be honest and up front. There is never any need to feel embarrassed! If there is a way I can help you , I will and within reason, of course.

How to Get the Help You Need!

Always contact me first, because I am usually in and out of  my office/ the shop, all day long. I always have to pick up parts, ship back finished instruments that were shipped to me for repair, find materials and get electronics and hardware for the instruments I am working on that day! Use LINE and add me by using the ID: jacksoffice or call me directly at 0867118520

Please be considerate and understand that I do not troubleshoot problems by phone  and give accurate quotations by just looking at pictures or videos of your instrument, While that does help me to understand what the problem may be, it does not guarantee that will completely solve the problems. I have to be able to see the repairs close up and understand what created the issue to begin with.  Also, there are usually more than one option to repairing most instruments. There are no charges for inspecting a guitar that needs repair and  a quotation. This can be accomplish in less than 5 minutes and no more than 20. What you do after I give you a quotation , is up to you. I will always be happy to help you in any way possible if I can.

Other things to Consider

Not all electronics such as Keyboards, amplifiers, pedals, etc ... have schematics available! They often are made up of extremely complicated circuitry. That being said, I do not like to over charge a customer or take on a job that requires far more work than average repair budget allows. I prefer to be careful before I make any assumptions or guesses.  This allows me to formulate one or more plans (course of action) that I can present to the customer. There is always a minimum bench fee of 500 baht to inspect electronics. This is due to the complicated and (often) abstact nature of electronics repair, If I the repair requires more than 30 minutes of trouble shooting, you will be given any viable options that exist. No repairs are ever done without your permission or if it was already agreed upon.

Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, PA Repairs

Sometimes your guitar, bass or keyboard amplifier,  just doesn't work as it should, or stops working altogether! Not a problem; in most cases we can fix your repair good as new and often, even better!

Here I am fitting a untouched bone nut. This is a high-end Fender Stratocaster which was just repaired at another shop and the customer siad the strings are now buzzing worse! I seen the Nut was filed too much and the string slots uneven!

After fitting the bone nut, I started to file and slot it for the string guage it used. This can take some time and a lot of tendor loving care. You are always less than a hair's width away from perfection or total disaster, so you really have to take things slow and f

I Purchase Instruments

NOTE! Please read all the way through. There are various things I purchase and look for.

I'm usually looking to purchase (That weird catagory of musical instruments) part guitars, basses, amps, pedals, assorted string instruments, keyboards, whatever, as ng as it makes music! The ones that fall into the weird catagory of " They are not worth the money or time to fix or the repair far exceeds the resale or emotional value. However! It is PERFECT for someone who does this/these type of repair/s for a living, it might have some value!". I've been doing repairs on and off for 47 years now, and doing this as a way of keeping my retired mind and body is some type of shape rather than rusting on a shelf! I also make all types of Youtube videos on musical instrument repairs, or strange fun projects I come up with. I also like to help people I meet and see that need instruments, but can't afford them, maybe tey're emotionally depressed, physically ill , or I simple save parts and pieces for future ideas or until they're needed. If you have such instruments collect dust and that fall into this strange catagory then please send me some pictures, along with an explaination of what is wrong with it, and tell me what you want for it or them. If I feel I can salvage some parts off of it, use it for a training video or project video or help others who need it, then I will be happy purchase it from you. You can connect with me using LINE ID: jacksoffice or mobile # 086711852

I like to purchase Tokai and other Japanese Guitars. Usually, I look for those in bad shape and at a good price since I have to make some money for my time and investents. This hold true for any old guitars that have a market/ certain following or people.  In short, guitars that hold a certain interest to their followers but not a true high-dollar collectable.

Important to understand! I am not a high-end trader or serious high-money item collector, but I do have clients that fit this catagory. I am will to talk to all high-end trader/collectors.
